What a Sunday… We were blessed with an extra hour of sleep, which I needed due to being hungover from being chocolate wasted. Who else ate way too much candy?
Golf this week was not the most compelling. Some of the big names/ old names were the center of attention at the Bermuda Championship. From Stuart Cink, Fred Funk, Ryan Armour, and Brian Gay. But in the end it came down to an exciting ending.
Wyndham Clark entered the back nine with a few shot lead and looked like the Oregon Duck Alumna was going to fly away with it, until the ran into the Veteran Bryan Gay. Gay on the 18 hole flew it to about 3 feet and tapped in to tie Clark. But Clark was not going to give away the tournament and stuffed it to about 12 feet for birdie and the win. Clark gave it a run but rolled it 4 four feet past and just barely missed the cup. Clark knocked in the par put and went into a playoff. Well kinda….
The golf channel looked more like the NFL’s Red Zone package as they sent their prime time event (Bermuda Championship) into a playoff! The playoff event shared air time with the really old guys (Champions Tour) hitting shots and driving around in golf carts. It was disappointing the Channel did not showcase the PGA Tour. The headliner was great especially because it was old guy (Brian Gay, 49) VS. young guy (Wyndham Clark 26).
But in the end Gay and Clark stuffed in close on 18 and Gay rolled in a 14 footer to make birdie. Clark gave it a run but missed his birdie put to end in 2nd Place.
I loved the 500 plus fans circled around tee boxes and greens.
-Bryan Gay is headed to the Masters in 2021...
-Gay was odds for 210/1 pre Bermuda
-Gay made close to $720k

- The Aloha Press is recording tonight and we need your questions.
What would you do if you had $1200?
Well, I have an idea of what Oliver with @offthedeck_golf might do..
I don’t know about y’all, but TaylorMade lives rent free in my head.
Hell, they might even own the space in their now. My bag is currently nearly all Callaway because I find deals on their equipment, but I catch myself looking at TaylorMade irons every day. There’s something about the P790’s and now the P770’s that haunts me.
They’re absolutely rocket launchers and look absolutely beautiful. I was lucky enough to hit a few shots with the P790’s, when the guy I was paired with was gaming them. Yes, I know their lofts are insane, but compared to my forged Apex’s there was easily a club difference. This only makes me want them even more. I figure it’s only a matter of time before I have a few late night cocktails, to force my hand and make me click the “buy now” button.
I look forward to the poor financial decision. But what kind of clubs are on your Christmas list this year? Let us KNOW…
