Enough Hat Talk. Let's Get to the Golf!
Golf is hard! It takes years of loyal practice and dedication to even have a chance to shoot par. (Most golf courses par (SCORE) 70-72)
So let’s get all scientific! Yup, put on your Bryson DeChambeau thinking cap and let's see the numbers. Only about 55% of all golfers who have an established handicap (USGA) have broken 100. 😖😠
Now, only 5% of all golfers have ever broken 80.
That’s incredible. Learn More.
What if I told you an 11 year old might give us all a run for our money, come tournament time! Mr. Eldrick Tont Woods might have something to do with this young star. Yes, Tiger Woods’ son (Charlie Woods) finished his 9 hole match and posted a -1 (35) in the South Florida Junior Golf Circuit. Charlie beat the field by 3 shots and has finished in red figures during his last two tournaments.
Moving Onto the Second Round of the Playoffs!
The TOP 70 in the FedEx Cup is at the BMW Championship ready to fight for the top 30 spots.
Ring Ring. Oh, excuse me I have a phone call….
Webb Simpson's Mother: “Hello, Mr. JC. So my son is not feeling up for the no cut event this week. He has been playing a lot of golf lately and just can’t make it this week.”
JC: “Oh, Mrs. Webb Simpson’s mother, I don’t understand. This is the playoffs. I mean this is why, when I ship something with Fedex, it’s the most expensive thing I have ever shipped. In order to pay for your son’s appearance fee.”
Webb Simpson's Mother: “Well he just can’t make it, his tum tum isn’t feeling great.”
Are You Kidding Me…
So, Webb’s mother did not call me, but he did withdraw from the event making it a field of 69. But he did have a “Representative” notify the media about his absence.
To me, this is crazy. As golf fans, we have to put up with hearing about the FedEx Cup all year long, and when the time comes, you can’t even get all the players to the tournament. This has me frustrated and Webb has now been added to my list of least favorite players.
This Week is the BMW Championship!
The players will tee it up at Olympia Fields Country Club’s North Course in Chicago.
Course plays 7366 yards for a par 70
Hosted the 2003 U.S. Open (Jim Furyk Champion)
250 yard par 3 and 2x 600 plus par 5’s.
The boys made a few predictions this week.
JC - Tyrrell Hatton
Jeff - Justin Thomas

Grandpa Phill took on the rest of the oldies but goodies at this week's Champions Tour three day event. Phill decided to warm up Day 1 shooting 10 under and followed it up with a 7 under day 2. He currently has a 4 shot lead.
Shadow Creek (Home of the first MATCH) in Las Vegas is hosting this year's CJ Cup. Last year, the event was held in South Korea, but due to the current climate the tour decided to move the venue. The event will follow the Shriners Hospitals Children Open on October 15-18.
