Yes, Fred Funk made the cut at this week's PGA Tour Stop. Funk chipped in on the 18th hole to card a 71 and is currently tied for 36.
Fred is one of the oldest guys to make a PGA Tour cut. The last couple guys who did it were Tom Watson, Jack Nicholas, and Sam Sneed. Fred not only is 1 under for the tournament but he beat his playing partner (his son) Taylor Funk. Taylor shot an 81 today in some tough conditions.
Good news, the old guy only averaged 240 yards off the tee and it appeared distance did not matter off the tee. Good Luck Funk.
Going into the weekend Ryan Armour and Wyndham Clark are both tied for first, at 8 under. But conditions look like they are going to calm down to a lite breeze of 15mph.
Close behind are guys like, Luke Donald -5, Brian Gay -4, and Max Homa -3. We will see Sunday who will weather the wind.
For many golf fans, the news of John Daly battling cancer was difficult. Hell, it might have been a reminder to think twice about the amount of cigarettes, shots of vodka, and unhealthy life choices we as golfers tend to make.
But Daly was out their kicking ass at the Timber Tech Championship. Daly only smoked 6 cigarettes and carded one of his lowest rounds. Daly shot a 64 and is among the leaders this week. Daly was sporting a lengthy beard and says he won’t cut it until the cancer treatments are over.
